You’re invited to the Forward in Unity Town Hall Meeting for the Prairie Rivers District on Sunday, September 30 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The meeting will be at our church (511 North Elm Street in Grand Island). Come listen to Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. You’re invited to come listen, learn, and share! If you want more information, look for the posters throughout the church or stop by the office.
TRINITY ANGEL WINGS ::
On August 5, 2018, Karen Neppl painted angel wings on the south side of Trinity.
After seeing an article titled “Neppl invites people to take pictures in front of her wing paintings,” in the Grand Island Independent from July 16, 2018, Susan Stoppkotte decided to ask Neppl if she would be willing to paint wings on Trinity United Methodist Church. Neppl readily agreed.
Neppl has painted more than nine sets of wings on the outside of buildings in the downtown area in Grand Island. Neppl’s inspiration? Colette Miller started the Global Angel Wings Project in Los Angels in 2012. Miller explains: “[the wings] were painted to remind humanity that we are the angels of this earth. They are human sized interactive public art, wings that people can take photos with and thus become part of the work.” Neppl is spreading the angel wings movement to Nebraska and has named it, Wings Across the Heartland.
More than 50 people have gotten their picture with the wings—so far! Invite your friends to stop by for an “angelic” photo, or better yet, bring them by the church for a photo shoot. Either way, if you take a photo with the wings, be sure to share it with the church by posting it on our Facebook page or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Don’t forget to also post it on your own Facebook page or on Twitter at @wingsacrosstheheartland.
