Each month we gather at a local pub for drinks and conversation around the biggest questions concerning God, our world, and humanity. At Theology Pub, new ideas are explored and answers are loosely held.
On September 13, Pastor David Clark will be at Kinkaider Brewing Co. to dialogue about the nature of the divine and why we speak of God in our human experience. Conversation starts at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome.
Lectio Divina is an ancient Christian Spiritual practice of listening for God’s voice through slowing down the process of reading scripture.
We will meet Thursday nights at 7-8 pm, beginning Thursday, October 4. Sign-up sheets will be passed in worship in September and are available in the church office. Each week we’ll read the focus scripture for Sunday’s worship from three different voices and versions of the Bible, then go off for a time of silence, then return and reflect on how the scripture spoke to you.
Everything Happens For a Reason and Other Lies I’ve Loved
A book study with Rev. Kelly will be on Sunday nights in October at 7 p.m. Sign-up sheets will be passed in worship in September, and are available in the church office. We’ll be reading and discussing the book, Everything Happens For a Reason and Other Lies I’ve Loved, by Kate Bowler.
Dr. Bowler is an American Church History professor at the Divinity School at Duke University. Her dissertation was on the history of the Prosperity Gospel in America. This book is a personal memoir of her theology as she struggled with cancer and other life traumas.
She offers a unique perspective and voice when talking about God and us.
Mending the Divides: Creative Love in a Conflicted World
